Yesterday, parliament discussed a new bill that the government wants to pass into law. It essentially stops the accepted freedom of workers to be able to withdraw their labour as a way to improve their terms and conditions.
UNISON has responded to this anti-strike bill and you can read an explanation of the bill and what it means here on our national website.
The wave of strikes that we have seen is due to workers in rail, the postal service, education, health and other essential services refusing to accept being poorer despite the immense contribution we make to making this country run.
RMT’s Eddie Dempsey describes this bill as an attempt “to criminalise dissent against poverty.” Please sign the TUC’s petition to protect the right to strike.
