The Regional International Forum along with the Regional Young Member’s Forum would like to invite UNISON members in the West Midlands to join them in celebrating the link between UNISON West Midlands and the Nicaragua healthcare trade union, FETSALUD.  Joining us is Flavia Ocampo, a pharmacist from Nicaragua who is FETSALUD’s Secretary for Youth, Culture and Sport and was previously a Branch Secretary.

Flavia’s visit to the Region is being hosted by the Regional International Forum and facilitated by the Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign Action Group (NSCAG).

It is worth noting this will be Flavia’s first-time leaving Nicaragua, so her visit to UNISON West Midlands will be of great significance, both for Flavia, and the relationship between UNISON and FETSALUD.  We hope the visit will help build/strengthen links between Branches and NSCAG and provide UNISON members in the West Midlands Region with a valuable opportunity to learn about the struggles faced by workers in Nicaragua and share their own experiences with Flavia.

The event will start with a Q&A session for Flavia, followed by a presentation on behalf of both the Regional International and Young Members Forums, then lunchtime screening of the 2014 film ‘Pride’ which is the true story of how a group of lesbian and gay activists supported striking miners in 1984.

Fish and chips will be provided for lunch.

Tickets are FREE to all UNISON members, however due to capacity restrictions they are limited and will be allocated on a first come first service basis.

In order to secure your place, please register now via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/meet-with-flavia-ocampo-of-fetsalud-in-person-only-event-tickets-1043526264147
